Sarah focuses her practice on general commercial and civil litigation. She has represented individuals, small businesses, major transportation and shipping companies, pharmaceutical companies, and international insurance providers in federal and state courts throughout the region. Sarah has handled a range of matters for her clients, including products liability litigation, white-collar defense, commercial contract disputes, complex multi-defendant accident litigation, special education disputes, and employment discrimination suits.
Sarah’s practice has included the following representative engagements:
- Won full award of all legal fees sought in arbitration of ocean carrier and insurer’s claim for legal fees against motor carrier’s insurer following improper rejection of defense.
- Negotiated favorable settlement of claims against waste generator for landfill remediation costs under New Jersey Spill Compensation and Control Act.
- Represented and advised pharmaceutical company under investigation by Department of Justice for violations of the federal Antikickback Statute and off-label promotion in violation of the False Claims Act.
- Won through mediation a favorable settlement of parents of autistic child’s claims against school district, including the award of compensatory education, monitoring of the implementation of a Verbal Behavior program, and reimbursement of legal fees.
- Successfully defended international fast food chain against landlord’s fraud and conspiracy claims by obtaining dismissal of complaint on grounds that collateral estoppel prohibited re-litigation of claims already tried to final judgment against company’s subsidiary.
Sarah has spoken at professional seminars and in the community on issues pertaining to electronic discovery, alternative dispute resolution, and special education law. She serves as Secretary of the Board of Trustees for Community Treatment Solutions, a nonprofit organization that provides intensive clinical services to children and adolescents with multiple social and behavioral needs
While in law school, Sarah worked as a Director of the Temporary Restraining Order Project for Battered Women and as an intern with the Yale Immigration Legal Services Clinic, the Capital Defense Unit of the Chief Public Defender’s Office in Hartford, CT, and the Native American Unit of Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Bangor, ME. |
